Project
Brief
A 2 week packaging and branding design for a retailing Lassi Brand. Address at least 1 sustainability issue and solution.
Lassi? What’s That?
A truly decadent spiced yogurt-based drink served at traditional Indian and Pakistani restaurants. They can come in different flavors but mango reigns supreme.
Lassi Originates from 1000BC in the Punjab Region, with a close cousin in “the drink of the gods” - a mixture of Honey and Yogurt served in a cooled clay pot.

Ideation Exploration
Most often, Mango Lassi is served in a glass, typically rounded at the bottom and with a slight taper. Using this as inspiration, I sketched out some simple vessel Iterations.
Next I chose a basic color Palette to start with. I also designed a pattern for the aesthetic of the packaging. The pattern is intertwined foliage to bring in a feeling of bright organics in summer.
Branding
Logo
I wanted to emulate a rounded, groovy logo you might see in 60s products. The brand name “Classy Lassi” Kind of wrote itself with the rhyme scheme.
An early idea for a classy Lassi logo in traditional clothes to take advantage of the puns
LCA
According to Doug Ober, A PHD Candidate at Caltech and expert on recycling procedures, one of the main problems with recycling packaging is that if it is comprised of more than one material, often consumers will throw the whole thing in recycling as one unit. However, by not removing the various elements many items fail to get recycled for the lack of separation and possible contamination.
The Final Design
Introducing
Classy Lassi
I love mango Lassi, but I’ve only found it served in specific restaurants. It got me thinking, if a retail version existed to be served in places like wholefoods…what would that brand look like? And here it is. Investors? Anyone?
